Facebook Phonebook

In an earlier post, I put step by step instructions for setting up facebook on your mobile phone and recieving all the facebook goodies, message alerts, SMS messages, friends statuses..etc…  I got few emails after that asking about the if facebook has a phonebook. well the short answer is yes, and I did not put that in my earlier post, but this is how you find, create and organize your facebook phonebook contacts.

  • First, If you don’t have facebook mobile installed, click here to get to the instructions on how to set it up, if you already have it installed.  Find the Facebook mobile application on the applications bar at the bottom of your screen.  Click on the application.

  • On the main menu for the Facebook Mobile application you will find,  Mobile uploads, Phonebook, and Accounts.  Click on Phonebook.  or you can go to http://www.facebook.com/friends/?view=phonebook  directly.

  • The first thing you will see is the list of friends that have their phone number public and or have the the Facebook Mobile application installed.  You can contact and send message alerts to those friends.  for the first time you installed the facebook mobile application you might have no one in your phonebook yet.

  • You can see how many friends has phone numbers and then sort them by, Status updates, Recently updated, or Everyone.   This screen will also allow you to add another phone number if you have more than one line.

  2. how do I “get rid” of the phonebook on facebook. I don’t want the phonebook applications nor do I want anyone to have MY phone number…how can I delete this…or edit the phone book. If I’m stuck with this application then how can I delete some of the numbers and people on it? Its frustrating…it has an “edit” button on top but its grayed out and is not available to do..help
